Stress Management and Relaxation
Individual Sessions
In my stress management coaching practice, I design each session to fit an individual’s needs and unique lifestyle. I work with each client to discover the underlying causes of stress in their life and help them devise lifestyle changes to decrease stress and increase peace in their lives. Clients learn breathing and relaxation exercises to release stress and difficult emotions such as anger, sadness, and grief. Releasing stress increases clients’ feelings of deep peace and healing, and elevates the clients’ feelings of well-being. Clients are empowered to develop their inner resources more fully, which can increase self-confidence and thus their ability to navigate through daily life challenges. As a courtesy, I encourage clients to record the exercises we practice in our sessions so they can practice them at home if they choose.

Workshops and Sessions
Stress Management Workshops
These interactive workshops are offered in two parts: theoretical and practical. Attendees will experience an in-depth understanding of the different aspects of stress, their personal responses to stress, and how stress influences their work and personal lives. I offer stress management strategies that are practical and easy to incorporate into daily life. When a person feels they can balance work and personal life it builds self-confidence in them and a deep sense of fulfillment.
Relaxation Sessions
I offer weekly relaxation exercises in a group setting. In these sessions we work with different relaxation techniques such as abdominal breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, visualization, and others to teach attendees how to detach from daily concerns and rejuvenate body and mind. The ability to relax in the middle of personal or work turmoil provides a much needed break for the brain and the body, allowing a person to return to life and work in a refreshed and relaxed state of mind.

Stress Management for Improved Productivity and Health
Stress has been called the “health epidemic of the 21st century” by the World Health Organization and is estimated to cost American businesses up to $300 billion a year.
I offer workshops and seminars for businesses, schools, and community groups, to name just a few. My workshops have one main goal: Preventive Healthcare. They are designed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the various aspects of stress and how stress negatively influences work and personal life. The stress management techniques I teach in these courses are practical and designed to improve overall health, which can lead to fewer sick days. These techniques can inspire increased focus and creativity, and more positive employee attitudes, which help to increase overall employee productivity.

Testimonials
"Joy Anderson of Medesthai Chicago spoke with our group about Relaxation Techniques for Stress Relief, Sleep, and more. Since we are a health and wellness oriented group, she tailored the presentation to our specific interests and needs. 'Interesting and informative' was what many participants said about her presentation. Others agreed she kept our interest. We would welcome her back to speak again."
—Barbara Gier, Director, Center Point, First Health Associates, Arlington Heights
"Joy Anderson's presentation, Stress Management: How to Live a Happier and Peaceful Life, was a breath of fresh air, literally. She took participants through a breathing exercise at the end of her insightful and informative presentation, which allowed us to experience firsthand the large impact such a small action can have on ourselves and our surroundings. Her approach is so soothing, joyful, and inclusive that everyone can benefit."
—Susan Barry, Instructional Design Manager, Pearson North America Course Design, Development and Academic Research
"As part of an Affinity Networking Group at US Cellular, Joy Anderson came to our Itasca Office to help celebrate the International Women’s Day and held a seminar on Stress Management. Stress is something that many of our associates at US Cellular feel on a daily basis, for we work in such a competitive industry. Joy’s presentation skills and material content were excellent. The piece I found most enjoyable is her story telling, which helps you to understand the content with real life examples. The story telling made it more interesting and people engaged in the conversation. When Joy was talking about Symptoms of Stress, there were items that I would never have recognized as stress. That was very powerful for my understanding; now I can act upon what is causing the stress. I would highly recommend Joy’s seminar or lecture at your place of business or another venue in any area she is educated in."
—Kendall Schafer, US Cellular
