Centering Prayer (19:00)
Centering Prayer (19:00)
Centering Prayer is based on a statement Jesus made during the Sermon on the Mount: “…when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you” (Mt 6:6). During this meditation you will connect with the quiet and peace of God deep in your heart, meditating on a sacred word you will ask the Holy Spirit to give you. This word is your anchor. You will return to it should you become distracted by thoughts, feelings, images, or body sensations that arise while you are in deep prayer. In this form of prayer we are opening ourselves to be in the loving presence of God, receiving His love and loving Him in return simply through being.
*Please note: this form of prayer is most successful when you are feeling calm and at peace. If you are agitated or under stress you will have a difficult experience as the distractions are more likely to draw you away from the loving presence of God.
